I see, he’s returned here and crossed the last line
to mend their love he needs more than sailor’s twine
He sailed the seas smoothly from here to there
the sirens calls made him deaf & blind, unaware

that with her, he shares this log-book
yet succombs to adventure anew, it always had its grip on him
she weeps a river of salty tears – just to provide
an even wider ocean which he sails on with every changing wind

the only constant in her life – just like the tides
is what he believes – „lines are there to be crossed“
why adhere to old maps and (un)written rules
when he fares much better without latitudes or longitudes

and so he goes about his own life, every day
finding adventure in the most unusual places
and her eyes, her heart can’t follow his ship
surprised by the absence of wonder as she kisses his lips

even the waves of chaos he brings are now predictable
so she puts hope away on a shelf along with sea-shells
she could always rely on him breaking her heart
the pain remains the same, whether together or apart

proudly, he’s declared himself the sea-faring rebel
but perhaps he’s fighting some demons on the wrong side
she’ll have learned to be free and stronger in her life

She’s accepted that he – too, only longs to be free
safe harbors he goes to, too far from her shore
it’s always been him – deciding when and how
he’d return, come back and knock on her door

But look at him now, a journey taking him
to longitudes, latitudes, he has yet to sail
this time – when he returns, he may not yet know
there’ll be no welcoming, familiar place
for everything forever changes and nothing remains the same

Sonne in deinem Gesicht
golden schimmernd,
der Glanz einer Prinzessin
unnahbar und erhaben

Wasser auf deiner Haut
glitzend tanzend,
das Gewand aus Diamanten
eigener Anmut unbewusst

Wind in deinem Haar
liebkosend umgarnt,
der Hauch von Freiheit
flüchtig und süss

Wellen, aus denen Du steigst
schäumend umspült,
mit Anmut einer Göttin
trotzt du den Gezeiten

I’m sitting by the crackling fire
sipping a cup of hot cocoa
looking out the window
with nowhere to go

snowflakes fall gently
onto the frost-bitten ground
so I ponder winter
and what it’s all about

These times of reflection
when everything is still
snow drifts past my window
such cold December chill

I think of you today
wish you’d be here right now
2 people, sipping cocoa
with no particular place to go
